英语系

英语系现有教师17人，其中教授和副教授10人，讲师7人，另有英美外籍教师7人，80%以上教师具有海外留学、访学或研修经历。近年来，英语系教学团队治学严谨，教风端正，先后在《外语教学》、《山东外语教学》等国内外著名学术刊物发表论文100余篇，出版专著、译著、教材30余部；多位教师主持和参与了教育部、省教育厅级的科研项目，成果斐然；青年教师在各级各类讲课比赛中取得优异成绩。

英语专业培养具有扎实的英语语言基础知识、熟练的语言基本技能、较强的语言应用能力、良好的人文素养以及具备工科背景，能在外事、经贸、文化、新闻出版、教育、科研、旅游等部门从事翻译、研究、教学、管理等工作的具有国际视野及创新精神的德才兼备的应用型高级专门人才。

主修课程：综合英语、高级英语、英语口语、英语听力、基础英语写作、高级英语写作、英语翻译理论基础、英汉语言对比、语言学、英国文学、美国文学、英语国家概况、科技期刊选读、科技英语阅读、科技英语翻译、商务英语、国际贸易理论与实务等。

英语专业学生有机会申请我校与港台及欧美国家合作高校的交换生项目，前往海外留学深造；也可以参加赴美带薪实习项目，提升语言实践能力。学生多次在全国写作、翻译及口译大赛中获得一、二等奖的好成绩；毕业生广泛活跃于国内外经贸、外事、教育、科研、旅游等领域，从事翻译、教学、管理、研究等工作，涌现出一批造福社会的行业精英。

English Department

The English Department has 17 Chinese teachers and 7 foreign teachers，among whom 10 are professors or associate professors. All the Chinese teachers have studied or received training in English speaking countries. With rigorous scholarship and excellent teaching methods, faculty members have made substantial gains in international and domestic academic research, including more than 100 published, translated works and monographs in books and journals such as Foreign Language Education and the Shandong Foreign Language Teaching Journal. Several instructors have chaired and engaged in research funded by the Department of Education of Gansu Province. In addition, multiple teachers have won prizes in provincial and national teaching competitions.

The English Department is committed to fostering an international vision, innovative spirit，sound morality, and excellent language skills. The Department offers a variety of courses to prepare them for careers in translation, education, foreign trade, and academic research. The major courses include but are not limited to Comprehensive English, Advanced English, English Speaking, English Listening, Basic English Writing, Advanced English Writing, Translation Theories and Practice, Comparative Study of English and Chinese, General Linguistics, English Literature, American Literature, Introduction to English-speaking Countries, Sci-Tech Journal Reading, EST Reading, EST Translation, and Business English.

Our students have opportunities to enhance their studies through exchange programs co-sponsored by the university and schools in Taiwan, Hong Kong, the United States, and multiple European countries. Multiple students have won a variety of awards in many national English competitions focusing on Speaking, Writing and English-Chinese Interpretation. Our graduates substantially contribute to society as capable professionals in the fields of foreign affairs, international trade, economics, media, education, tourism, and academic research.
